Nothing is ever won; nothing is every lost.

Comment on Assignment 7.1

Kandi, your humble servant here has started to study Buddhism to gain peace of mind. In his studies, he has encountered the Buddhist concept of positive/negative, male/female, hot/cold, etc.

Buddhism calls this yin/yang, or to use Newtonian physicans, for action or statement there is an opposite and equal action or statement.

In effect, this is what you have done here. You have balanced both negative and positives. Therefore, there is no positive without a negative side to it; there is no negative side without a positive answer to it. East meets West!

Or as Russell Kirk puts it, nothing is ever won and nothing is ever lost.

We live in a constant tension between winning and losing, or Yin/Yang.

What happens depends on will power.
