Bob, when your humble servant here was doing an internship at the University of California - Davis - in fund raising - as part of his Ph.D. program - he took the opportunity to visit with the chief fund raiser for the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, CA. She had a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from UCLA, and when she was not raising money, she was busy tracking the prices of water worldwide! This was in 1985! Imagine! Nobody thought about water shortages then. They do now; RAND is the "go-to" source from definitive information about potable water - which matters more to human survival than oil does.
