Dear Mr. Green:
Thank you and Ann Collins for taking time from your very
busy schedule today to meet with Marta Villegas, my visiting online (Jones International
University) doctoral (D.B.A., Doctor of
Business Administration) student from
Colombia, South America, Marta Villegas .
You shared very exciting insight into business ethics, with special
reference to banking, based on your own professional practices.
In particular, Marta and I discussed at length your “ethics
counselor” approach after our hour-long visit with you and Ms. Collins. It is, for both of us, the first time we have
encountered this concept; its value was crystal clear right away! This technique, in fact, may provide the
leverage Marta needs to move banking ethics forward in her home country,
Colombia, South America. This is a super
“benchmark!”
Marta has worked for the Bank of Colombia, and her work for
it has caused her to develop a passion for promoting banking ethics in her
homeland. Our visit with you today
provided invaluable guidance for her research and application of her research
findings. For example, your discussion
of the need to conduct ethical education within the “context” of actual
operations was pure field-tested wisdom.
As we discussed, more and more the future of our country
will focus on South America; your kind offer to visit with Marta on fairly
short notice has been a potentially valuable step for building “bridges”
between Wisconsin and Colombia, to the advantage of both countries. You and Ms. Collins gave Marta valuable field
research help today. You also won her deep
respect for you and the State of Wisconsin.
I also thank Ray Allen for making you aware of Marta’s
visit. It is typical of his interest in
moving our state and country forward and into the future. He certainly picked the rights persons to
host this visit on both professional and personal levels. As a native of Wisconsin, this writer was
proud of your insight and good will that you extended to my student. You helped to plant “seeds of growth” today.
Sincerely,
Paul Rux, Ph.D. (Wisconsin-Madison)
