Social-Technical Systems and the Future

Ronda, this is classic "social/technical systems" analysis.  We can plan the technology, which is easy.  Engineers create a blue print.  They connect the wires.  The "hell on earth" breaks loose when we need to "wire" the human factor - get working agreement - so it can fund, implement, train, update the technology!  I spent 1992-1998 doing this kind of wiring - mostly social - in setting up a 5-county, 28-community, wide area network to bring public libraries in these communities into the Internet age!  The stress hospitalized me twice!   I teach now!
