Beyond Demise of Teamwork

PAUL RUX, Ph.D.  - BEYOND THE DEMISE OF TEAMWORK

SESSION DESCRIPTION

This session explores the causes, effects, and likely responses to the coming demise of teamwork because of the growing lack of job tenure.  How do we manage when employees are not around long enough to get to know and trust each other to form teams that perform?  Experts on workforce trends offer insights into what is likely to replace teamwork as a focus of management.  The session blends thirty minutes of Power Point with thirty minutes of follow-up group discussion.  Attendees receive handouts on key Power Point insights.

HIGHLIGHTS

Session will apply insights from experts like Daniel Pink (Free Agent Nation) to describe and explain the causes of the growing trend away from job tenure and the ensuing collapse of teamwork.  The session concludes with insights from experts like Jerold Apps at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on how mentoring and coaching of select individual ‘stars” in the workplace will likely replace teamwork.
