Social-Technical Systems Analysis

You continue to make steady progress.  Meanwhile, I looked at the local Crystal River, FL newspaper this week; on its front page was a feature story on how the local schools are integrating ipads into the entire curriculum!  It is easy to give somebody an ipad; the real challenge is show him or her how to use it - plus having tailored content for it!  There is a "social-technical systems" frame of analysis that I used in my Ph.D. dissertation.  It states:  Every technology has a sociology.  It is easy to deploy the technology, technical wires; they do not fight back, argue.  The real test is "wiring" the sociology to the technical "wires."  Americans are quick to embrace technical "wires," but too often, as a rule, they ignore the social "wires" that we must put in place in order for the sociology and technology to synergize.  The local schools are "blowing their horn" about technology; the newspaper article mentioned nothing about the training and content design that must be in place.  Fortunately, students like you are alert to this social-technical systems dynamic and are taking much-needed steps to align them.  Great!
