I went to the Conservative Leadership event at Olympia Resort
yesterday. It was okay. Only 1/3 of seats were filled. Most were
seniors; few young people showed interest, which aligns with apolitical
trend among Millenials. What also strikes my attention is what was not
discussed: ticking time bomb of the federal deficit. What is not said
is often more important than what is said. Or as Machiavelli observed,
"The truth is never spoken. It is too dangerous. The 'street smart'
hint at it, but they never state and discuss it." Nothing has changed
since Machiavelli penned this wisdom in the 1500's.
