The Essential Future of Education

Brian, at one time, food for children was the responsibility of parents. My parents packed a lunch pail for me. They did not complain. Also, if we require babysitting, let it be outside the school. Let parents pay for it. Yes, the school today is attempting to substitute for what parents once did. Yes, we pay taxes for it. Therefore, the parents pay one way or the other. For this writer the challenge is: What is the purpose of the school? For this writer, it is getting students ready for jobs - the focus of the Essentialist philosphy of education, to which your humble servant adheres. We no longer know what the purpose of education is. We are going to relearn it is about job skilling, or we cannot afford it.
