Publication dates matter in futuring

Ryan, overall, this works. It is thoughtful. However, in research we have a basic "five-year rule." In applied research, especially, which deals with fixing things here and now, today, and tomorrow, the practice is not to use information with publication dates older than five years from today. Otherwise, we are looking at history, in the rear-view mirror. Futuring requires information that has a present, future focus; the five-year rule is especially important to trend forecasting. Of course, at times, we purposely do historical resarch. This writer has two degrees in history, B.A. and M.A., but overall for purposes of trend forecasting stay as close to the present time with publications as you can. Thanks. Dr. Rux
