Lessons from Failure and Paradox

Ronda, wow, failure and paradox are exciting insights!

We can learn from failure as well as success. In fact, often the loser learns more from the battle than does the winner. Germany lost World War I; as a result, it pioneered tank warfare with air support, paratroopers, guided missiles, and jet airplanes! This country had to run fast and hard to catch up as we entered World War II.

Paradox reminds us of two events in nature: sunrise and sunset. Both occur in the same day. We need to plan for each one. For instance, "sunrise and sunset industries" are a metaphor for paying attention to what is coming, sunrise, and accepting "creative destruction" of what is outdated, the sunset dimension.
