Lisa, the Internet allows us to by-pass banks entirely to create our own electronic currencies. Japanese industry is already doing it internally and among them. Banking is a dying institution, a Zombie. It is walking; it is dead. It does not however know that it is dead yet.

Future Studies work like Science Fiction. Both, unlike "Fantasy," start with facts. Both "Imagineer" future scenarios from the facts. H.G. Wells is a great example of an early "Futurist." His "War of the Worlds" still sells tickets.
Avoid "rearview" mirrors.
Winning race drivers focus on the road ahead. They are "Futurists."
Catch the next "wind."
Master sailors know how to catch the next "wind." Futurists do too.
