Return of the Reformation - 21st Century Style

Wanda, this is fascinating. First, Futurists use role playing in probable future scenarios to help clients, learners, others to better grasp the future scenario by providing the future with "flesh and blood."  Yes, role playing makes past, present, and future come alive.  You are lucky to get this experience.

Also, your humble servant here grew up Lutheran, and he learned about Luther's protest over the sale of indulgences, pieces of paper that promised access to heaven.  As I thought on Luther, I began to make a comparison between education today and indulgences.  Americans have invested in the idea that getting a "piece of paper" (degree) would open the gates to career "heaven."  More and more, we now are starting to doubt the power of these "pieces of paper."

I am not bashing education, since I am an educator.  I am only pointing out the growing disenchantment over student debt for degrees that do not open the gates to "career heaven" for more and more students.  Perhaps we are moving toward some kind of Reformation moment in education.  We shall see.  Meanwhile, enjoy your role play opportunity!   Lucky you!   Dr. Rux
