Bob, at least two trends will drive this e-com trend. One is simple safety. The lack of public safety more and more in the USA will convince people to stay at home, shop from home. Faith Popcorn, yes, a real trade name, a famous futurists, calls this trend "cocooning." It overlaps with e-com. Second, the costs of driving, which likely will continue to rise - and skyrocket if there is more war in the Middle East, e.g. Iran, argues against onsite shopping too. In Toronto, our Sheraton Hotel was opposite the Eaton Centre, Canada's top shopping mall (300 stores) on Bay Street, the location of the Toronto Stock Exchange, second after New York in North America. My wife told me about $300 purses on sale for $150! Anyway, earlier this summer, there was a deadly shooting in this upscale Centre. At least 8 persons were wounded, and at least one killed. Imagine! Is this what's coming to Fifth Avenue in New York City too?
